ALUMNI BROTHER DIEGO BERNAL RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL MAN IN SAN ANTONIO
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
My journey to San Antonio City Council District 1 has begun, and I respectfully request your support. There are a number of different communities and voices in the district- each deserve the attention of their city government and representatives. During the course of the campaign I am confident you will find that I have the background, education and experience not only to attend to these concerns, but also to ensure that none are overlooked.
I was raised in District 1 by my mother, and know very well the experience and struggles of working families. I am a proud graduate of Arnold Elementary, Tafolla Middle School and Thomas Jefferson High School; after attending the University of Michigan and earning my undergraduate, graduate, and law degrees, I returned to San Antonio to serve and advocate for the people and community that made me who I am. In fact, I live right across the street from the first home I lived in as a child.
As an attorney and a social worker, I have spent my entire career as an advocate for families, children, and working people. My professional success depends on my ability to provide a strong voice for others, pursue fairness and justice, and to build consensus and think innovatively to solve difficult problems. I look forward to using those same skills to represent you in District 1.
In addition to advocacy, my passion is art. I am a proud member of San Antonio’s arts community: I released two successful albums, and am honored to have collaborated with other local artists and contributed to local, national and international projects. The arts are an important part of San Antonio’s identity that I believe we need to continue to cultivate, promote and market.
My professional and artistic success also allowed me the opportunity to support and invest in a small business in District 1.
As a lifelong resident, lawyer, musician, and business investor in District 1, I am uniquely qualified to represent the diverse interests of District 1′s various constituents.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my website and learn more about my vision for District 1 and how we can work together to make it a reality. If I don’t have the chance to meet you at one of my campaign events, I’d like the opportunity to meet you in person and take a walk with you so that you can show me what improvements you would like to see in your neighborhood.
I love the city and people of San Antonio. I grew up here, practice law here, make music here and want nothing more than to give back to the community that has given me so much. I ask for your support and your vote – with your help we can get there together. We are 1.
All my best,
Diego Bernal
